Kelsey Burton Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College women's basketball player Kelsey Burton was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead her team to a 2-1 record in the previous seven days.

Burton, a junior guard, was named to the Holiday Inn Express All-Tournament Team after averaging 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.5 steals in two games over the weekend. Lake Forest was defeated 60-47 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the 17th-ranked team in the nation, on Saturday before outscoring University of Wisconsin-River Falls 89-80 the following afternoon. Burton finished Sunday's contest with 24 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

The Foresters opened Midwest Conference play Wednesday night with a 65-63 victory at St. Norbert College. Burton scored 15 points and added five rebounds, three assists, and a pair of blocked shots in the game.

Burton is averaging 12.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game so far this season.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Burton also earned the award once during her freshman season.
