Lake Forest Starts Season with 77-44 Victory at MSOE

Sophomore Meona Feather and freshmen Kaley Sheehan and Katie Fagan combined for 44 points in their debuts as Foresters Friday night in a 77-44 season-opening triumph at Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Feather led all players in the game with 17 points and five assists and added six rebounds. She shot 6-for-11 from the field and connected on three of five attempts from three-point range. Sheehan was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and finished with 15 points off the bench while Fagan was successful on each of her six field goal attempts in a 12-point performance. She also tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds.

The trio of newcomers was joined in double figures by junior Kelsey Burton, who had 10 points, six boards, and a pair of steals.

Lake Forest shot 50 percent from the field, knocked down six of 13 attempts from three-point range, and missed just once in 10 trips to the foul line. The Raiders connected on just 27.7 percent of their field goal attempts, including five of 15 from long range, and on 13 of 24 free throws. The visitors also had a 38-32 edge in rebounds and committed just 13 turnovers while forcing 23.

The Foresters scored the first four and 16 of the first 18 points in the contest. Leading 21-8 after the opening period, they scored the first seven points of the second and were ahead by as many as 22 in the quarter. The halftime score was 38-17.

Lake Forest's advantage grew to 30 points in the third quarter and 35 in the fourth.

The Foresters will play their home opener against Marian University Tuesday night at 7:00.
