Kelsey Burton Earned MWC Performer of the Week Honors

Forester basketball player Kelsey Burton was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday after averaging 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a pair of games last week.

Burton tied for game-high honors with 18 points on Wednesday in the Foresters' 57-53 loss to league champion Ripon College. The sophomore guard also grabbed five rebounds and made five steals in the contest.

Lake Forest prevailed 72-54 at Grinnell College on Saturday, despite going into the locker room at halftime trailing by 10. Burton led all players in the game with a season-high 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and the 15th of her career. The victory clinched a spot for the Foresters, who are now 13-12 overall and 12-6 in the conference, in the four-team MWC Tournament at Ripon.

Burton leads the MWC in three-point field goal percentage (40.5%) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2) and ranks in the top 10 in the league with 14.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office. Burton also earned the award twice last season.
