Lake Forest Falls at Knox

Junior guard Zaria Sydnor finished with a team-high 15 points but the Foresters were defeated 74-53 at Knox College on Saturday.

Sydnor shot 6-for-11 from the field and was joined in double figures by senior forward Hannah Hiland, who scored 10 points and added seven rebounds. Junior forward Molly Schoenlein led the visitors with eight boards.

The Foresters made exactly one-third of their field goal attempts while Knox shot 46.9 percent. Lake Forest was outscored 23-6 at the free throw line and the home team had a slight 3937 edge in rebounds.

Lake Forest led 16-10 at the end of the opening quarter and the margin reach seven on a three-pointer by Sydnor early in the second. Trailing 21-14, Knox rattled off 12 straight points to take a five-point lead and the margin was five again at 28-23 after 20 minutes of play.

The visitors trimmed the deficit to four early in the third quarter but the Prairie Fire pulled away during the rest of the period and took a 53-35 lead into the fourth. Lake Forest was unable to mount a comeback and fell to 9-10 overall and 8-4 in Midwest Conference play this season. Knox improved to 11-8 overall and is also 8-4 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Ripon College on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
