Lake Forest College women's basketball player Kelsey Burton added to her list of awards on Tuesday when she was named Central Region Rookie of the Year by D3hoops.com.

Burton, a freshman guard, was the Foresters' top scorer this season with 14.2 points per game. She also led the team with 44 steals on the year and ranked second on the squad in rebounding at 8.0 per contest. Burton reached double figures in scoring in 21 of 26 appearances with five 20-point performances. She also grabbed at least 10 rebounds 11 times with a Midwest Conference-leading 10 double-doubles.

Burton was named First Team All-MWC and the MWC Newcomer of the Year on February 26 after ranking among the top seven in the league in points, rebounds, and steals per game. Her 368 points on the year rank ninth in program history while her 207 rebounds are tied-for-eighth.

The Central Region includes 54 teams from six conferences and five different states. NCAA Division III Sports information directors nominated more than 680 players nationwide and D3hoops.com named all-region teams for the 17th consecutive year. A player, rookie, and coach of the year was also selected for each of the eight regions.
