The Midwest Conference released its end-of-season awards for women's basketball on Tuesday and Lake Forest College was well-represented with a First Team All-MWC honoree, a Second Team All-MWC selection, and the MWC Coach and Newcomer of the Year.
Kelsey Burton, a guard, was the only freshman on the first team and was voted the league's newcomer of the year. She led Lake Forest and ranked sixth in the conference with 14.4 points and fourth with 2.1 steals per contest. Burton also finished seventh in the MWC in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game and recorded a league-high 10 double-doubles. She scored at least 10 points in 21 of 26 appearances and poured in 20 or more five times. Her 368 points on the year rank ninth in program history while her 207 rebounds are tied-for-eighth.
Second Team All-MWC honoree Hannah O'Day, a junior forward, finished 13th in the conference with 11.3 points per game and was 19th in the league with 5.2 rebounds per contest. She was especially effective for the Foresters late in the season, scoring in double figures in each of her last nine full games and averaging 14.4 points per contest during that span. She suffered a season-ending injury on February 13 and missed the team's final three contests.
Lake Forest head coach Tamlyn Tills was named MWC Coach of the Year after leading her team to a five-game improvement from last season. The 2017-18 Foresters went 13-14 overall and 9-7 in conference play to qualify for the four-team MWC Tournament for the first time since 2012. They defeated host Ripon College in the semifinal round before falling to Cornell College in the final to finish 3-3 on the season against the league's co-champions. It was the program's first appearance in the tournament final in 10 years. Tills was also named MWC Coach of the Year in women's golf in the fall.
