Lake Forest College women's basketball player Kelsey Burton was named Division III National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' two victories last week.

Burton, a freshman guard, helped lead Lake Forest to a 66-43 rout of visiting Beloit College on Tuesday and a 66-45 triumph over Ripon College at home on Saturday. She recorded her eighth and ninth double-doubles of the season and averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds in the two contests. Burton reached her scoring total in an efficient manner, making 65.2 percent (15-for-23) of her field goal attempts, including three of five from beyond the arc, and 11 of 13 foul shots on the week. She also dished out six assists and added four steals in the two games combined.

Burton leads the 2017-18 Foresters with 14.4 points per game and ranks second on the squad with 8.0 rebounds per contest. She is shooting 43.4 percent from the field this season, 33.3 percent on three-pointers, and 80.5 percent from the free throw line.

The USBWA selects men's and women's Division III National Players of the Week each Tuesday. This is the fourth season that the USBWA will recognize national players of the week from Division III.

Burton was also named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.
