Kelsey Burton Named MWC Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College women's basketball player Kelsey Burton was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday for helping lead the Foresters to a pair of victories in the previous seven days.

Burton, a freshman guard, led all players with 25 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in the team's 66-43 victory over visiting Beloit College on Tuesday. She made 10 of 15 field goal attempts in the game, including one of two from three-point range, and knocked down four of five free throws. She also recorded four assists and added a pair of steals in 27 minutes of play.

Lake Forest hosted and defeated Ripon College 66-45 on Saturday and Burton finished with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. She shot 5-for-8 from the floor, 2-for-3 on three-pointers, and 7-for-8 from the foul line while chipping in with two more assists and steals.

Burton connected on 65.2 percent from the field and 84.6 percent from the free throw line while averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds per game on the week.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Burton also earned the award two weeks ago.
