Lake Forest College women's basketball player Kelsey Burton was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after scoring a total of 51 points in the team's last two games.

Burton, a freshman guard, led the Foresters with 26 points in an 86-85 overtime loss to visiting Knox College on Saturday. She shot 8-for-17 from the field, 3-for-7 from three-point range, and 7-for-9 from the foul line while adding six rebounds, three assists, and a season-high-tying five steals in the contest.

Lake Forest hosted and defeated Beloit College 66-43 Tuesday night and Burton led all players in the game with 25 points to go with a team-high 11 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the year. She connected on 10 of 15 field goal attempts, including one of two from beyond the arc, and on four of five foul shots. After finishing the first half with 10 points and 10 boards, she scored a dozen points and added four assists in the third quarter before sitting out most of the fourth.

Burton leads the 2017-18 Foresters with 14.2 points per game and is second on the team with 7.9 rebounds per contest. Both marks rank seventh in the Midwest Conference while her 2.3 steals per game are fourth.
