Foresters Seventh in MWC Preseason Coaches Poll

The Midwest Conference released its 2017-18 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll on Thursday and Lake Forest College was seventh in the rankings.

Voting is done by the MWC head women's basketball coaches. Each coach votes for the other nine schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (nine points for first, eight for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.

Cornell College edged out St. Norbert College by just one point for first place in the poll. They each received four of the 10 first-place votes with the other two going to third place Ripon College. Illinois College, Knox College, and Grinnell College were next and just ahead of Lake Forest.

A dozen Foresters averaged at least 10 minutes per game last season and seven are back this year, including leading scorer and Second Team All-lMWC selection Bridget Bilek. Lake Forest finished the 2016-17 campaign 6-17 overall and seventh in the MWC standings with a league record of 5-13.

The Foresters will open the 2017-18 season against visiting University of Chicago on Wednesday, November 15. They will begin conference play at Beloit College less than a week later and play 16 league games. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the MWC Tournament, which will be hosted by the league champion February 23-24.
