Sophomore forward Bridget Bilek led the visitors with 13 points but the Forester women's basketball team was defeated 62-49 at Ripon College on Saturday.

Bilek also led Lake Forest with three steals in the contest. Senior forward Brie Majkowski was next on the squad with seven points and junior guard Kara Norvet grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Foresters made one-third of their field goal attempts while Ripon shot 37.5 percent. The Red Hawks also had a 46-36 edge in rebounds and committed 19 turnovers to Lake Forest's 23.

After a free throw by Ripon to start the afternoon, Majkowski accounted for half of the Foresters' scoring as they rattled off 12 straight points. An 8-2 run by the visitors to close out the first quarter gave them a 20-8 lead after 10 minutes of play.

The lead shrunk to four by the end of the second quarter, however, and the Red Hawks scored the first six points of the third quarter to take the lead. Lake Forest regained the lead but an 11-2 run by Ripon to finish off the period gave the home team a 49-43 advantage. The margin reached double figures in the fourth and the Foresters got no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 5-14 and Midwest Conference mark to 4-10. Ripon improved to 13-6 overall and 11-3 in the league.

The Foresters will host St. Norbert College at 5:30 Wednesday evening.
