The Midwest Conference released its 2016-17 Women's Basketball Coaches Poll on Wednesday and Lake Forest College was fifth in the rankings.
Voting is done by the MWC head women's basketball coaches. Each coach votes for the other nine schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (nine points for first, eight for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.
The Foresters return six of nine player who averaged at least 11 minutes per game last year. Lake Forest finished the 2015-16 campaign 11-12 overall and tied-for-fifth in the MWC standings with a league record of 9-9.
The Foresters will open the 2016-17 season against visiting Benedictine University on Tuesday, November 15. They will begin conference play at home against Beloit College a week later and play 16 league games. The top four teams in the conference will qualify for the MWC Tournament, which will be hosted by the league champion February 24-25.
