The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 74-48 Wednesday evening by visiting Carroll University. Senior guard Abby Wiedman connected three times from three-point range and led the Foresters with 15 points.

Wiedman shot 5-for-8 form the field and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in the contest. Fellow senior guard Danielle Canulli added 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Junior forward K.C. Stralka finished with nine points and led the Foresters with seven rebounds. Junior guard Michelle Ricolcol dished out a team-high five assists.

Both teams shot 37 percent from the field and Lake Forest was better from three-point range, knocking down four of seven long-range jumpers while the Pioneers made just one of 11 attempts. Carroll, however, connected on 17 of 26 foul shots while the Foresters shot just 6-for-7 from the line. The visitors also out-rebounded Lake Forest 49-35 and committed only 12 turnovers to the Foresters' 28.

After a Carroll steal and basket to start the game, the Foresters scored the next seven points. The Pioneers responded with a 9-0 run, however, and led the rest of the way. The margin was nine late in the first half before back-to-back layups by Stralka made the score 32-27 at halftime.

Lake Forest scored the first basket of the second half to trim the deficit to just three points but another 9-0 run by the visitors extended their lead into double figures. The Foresters pulled to within eight points with 9:19 to play but would get no closer. Leading 61-48 with four-and-a-half minutes left, Carroll scored the final 13 points of the game.

The loss drops the Foresters' overall record to 1-5 and Midwest Conference mark to 1-3. The Pioneers improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.

Lake Forest will travel to Knox College on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
