Foresters Fall at North Central in Non-Conference Play

The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 66-55 at North Central College Tuesday night and is now 4-3 on the season. Junior guard Alex Messacar led the Foresters with 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for her first double-double.

Messacar's previous career-high for rebounds in a game was six, a total she matched at the offensive end of the court alone on Tuesday. Junior forward Liz Radtke was the only other player on the team to score in double figures. She finished with 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Lake Forest shot just 32.2 percent from the field in the contest and made only three of 19 attempts from three-point range. The Foresters were 14-for-17 from the free throw line and out-rebounded the Cardinals 42-38. North Central shot 40.4 percent from the floor, 6-for-19 from beyond the arc, and 18-for-30 from the foul line. The home team committed 16 turnovers, two fewer than Lake Forest.

North Central led by as many as 11 points in the opening period and 31-21 at halftime.

The Foresters started the second half with a 12-4 run and trailed by just two with 15 minutes to play. The Cardinals, however, responded with a 12-4 run of their own led by no fewer than eight points the rest of the way.

North Central is now 5-3 on the year.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play on Saturday, December 17, at St. Norbert College. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
