The Lake Forest College women's basketball team prevailed 70-52
at Knox College on Saturday (February 13). The Foresters are now
15-6 overall and 11-3 in Midwest Conference play. The Prairie Fire
fell to 9-12 overall and 4-10 in the league.
Senior forward Claire
Schmidt (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) shot 8-for-10 from the
field and led all players in the game with 16 points and eight
rebounds. Junior guard Emily Weber
(Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills School) and freshman guard Sam Schuring
(Elk Grove, Calif./Elk Grove) were next with 11 points apiece.
Senior guard Kate
Grunauer (Chicago, Ill./Marist) dished out a game-high six
assists.
Lake Forest shot 55.6 percent from the field in the game, nearly
twice the 28.8 percent shooting by Knox. The visitors also
out-rebounded the Prairie Fire 32-23.
The Foresters led by as many as eight points in the opening period
and 28-25 at halftime.
Lake Forest outscored Knox 20-8 during the first 10:30 of the
second half to pull ahead by 15. The Foresters eventually led by as
many as 20 points later in the game.
The Foresters will be back on the road Tuesday evening (February
16) at Monmouth College. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a
