Improving Foresters Continue Setting Team Records at Elmhurst Invitational

The Lake Forest College track team traveled to Wheaton College on Friday for the Elmhurst Invitational and returned home after seven school record performances.

The assault on the program's record book began with the women's 100m, where sophomore Mary Radziewicz and freshman AJ Jones turned in the two fastest clockings in team history. Radziewicz finished 13th out of 38 competitors in the event with a time of 12.76 seconds while Jones was 16th in 12.96.

The Foresters were equally successful in the men's race, where freshman Mason Wright was 10th out of 58 runners with a team record time of 11.31 seconds and sophomore Matthew Lungu placed 16th in 11.44, which was also faster than the previous record.

Jones and Radziewicz were joined by junior Annie Pulaski and Angelina Ristic-Tesanovic in the women's 4x100m, where Lake Forest finished sixth in 51.96 seconds. Lungu, Wright, and freshmen Michael Alade and Jermaine Robinson were fourth in the men's race in 44.28 seconds. Both times are school records.

Lungu added to his eventful evening in the 400m, finishing fourth in a 23-runner field and breaking another team record by more than a second-and-a-half in 51.79 seconds.

While not a record, senior Lionel Whitehead added his name to the program's top-five list with a time of 2:04.50 in the 800m. He was 21st out of 45 competitors in the race and now ranks tied-for-fifth in Lake Forest history in the event.

Radziewicz and Wright improved on the school records they set six days ago in the 200m. Radziewicz's time of 26.63 seconds was good for 12th in the 43-woman field and slightly faster than last weeken's 23.71. Wright finished seventh out of 62 men's 200m runners in 23.12, which was his best by three-tenths of a second. Lungu placed 11th in the event in 23.38.

After competing twice in a seven-day span, the Foresters will be off next weekend ahead of the Midwest Conference Championships at Grinnell College May 12-13.
