Foresters Cross the State Line for Tadd Metzger Invitational

Lake Forest's indoor track season continued on Friday when the team traveled less than an hour north to Carthage College for the Tadd Metzger Invitational.

The first event of the meet was the 3000m run and Forester sophomore Ellen Szostak completed her 15 laps around the track in 11:14.68 to place fifth in the race and is now ranked fifth in the program's short history in that event.

After the 55m hurdle and dash trials, the mile run took place and Lake Forest junior Yaneli Guajardo was the runner-up in 5:24.04. Freshman Madeline Morland won the second heat and was third overall in the event with a time of 5:26.70. She took over third place in team history in that event.

Guajardo was back on the track for the next event, the 400, and turned in another second-place finish with a school record time of 1:05.10. Junior Audrey Paglia had the third-fastest time in the field at 1:06.75 and is also third in team annals in the event. Lake Forest also earned a team point in the men's 400, where sophomore Mathieu Norcross was eighth in 56.57 seconds.

Senior Aiden Pratt finished sixth in the men's 600 in 1:32.09 and, after another short rest, Guajardo posted her third runner-up performance of the day in the women's 800, which she completed in 2:24.32.Senior Lauren Giurini was seventh in the event in 2:38.63.

Lake Forest accounted for three of the four entries in the men's 5000m run, which senior Philip Wilson won with a time of 16:15.85.

The final event was the 4x400 relay and Jacqueline Chapman joined Szostak, Giurini, and Guajardo to post the women's team's fastest time of the season at 4:31.92, which was good for fifth place at the meet.

Despite competing only in running events, Lake Forest men and women finished sixth out of eight team at the meet.

The Foresters will travel to Olivet Nazarene University next Saturday for the ONU Invite.
