Foresters Compete at Whitewater on Windy Day

Senior Jorge Villanueva won the 5000m run and Lake Forest's 4x400m relay team set a program record Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Drake Alternative Meet.

Villanueva completed 12-and-a-half laps around the track in 15:17.75 to win the race by nearly five seconds. Fellow Forester senior Christian Aldana was fifth in 15:39.77.

The next event on the track was the women's 4x400 relay and Lake Forest sophomores Yaneli Guajardo, Ellen Szostak, and Audrey Paglia teamed with senior Emily Staufer on a runner-up finish in the race and a school record time of 4:28.48.

Guajardo turned in the Forester women's team's top individual event performance with a third-place finish and time of 2:25.29 in the 800m run. Staufer was sixth in the 1500m run in 5:13.54 and sophomore Molly Gniady finished sixth in the 5000m run in 21:00.71, one place and 0.8 seconds ahead of junior Estafania Ramirez.

On the men's side junior Dillon Rice finished seventh in the 3000m steeplechase, which he completed in 10:33.15.

The next meet on Lake Forest's schedule is the 2019 Midwest Conference Championships at St. Norbert College May 10-11.
