Lake Forest College runner Jorge Villanueva was named Midwest Conference Track Performer of the Week on Tuesday after winning the 10,000m run at Saturday's Wheaton Invitational.
Villanueva completed 25 laps around the track in 31:35.33 to finish nearly 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up from North Central College. The senior's time was also 32 seconds faster than the previous program record he set in 2018 and 52 seconds better than the next-fastest time in the league so far this season.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office. Lake Forest added distance-only track to its slate of varsity programming prior to the 2018 season and Villanueva is the first member of the team to earn the league's weekly award.
