Lake Forest Starts Outdoor Season at Viking Olympics

Junior Philip Wilson and sophomore Yaneli Guajardo turned in the Foresters' top performances Saturday at Augustana College's Viking Olympics.

Wilson was seventh overall but fifth among college runners in the 5000m run and his time of 15:29.91 is the best outdoor performance in program history. Senior Christian Aldana was also 19th out of 57 runners in the race with a time of 15:57.69.

Guajardo was one of eight runners to break five minutes in the women's 1500m run, finishing fifth with a time of 4:57.58. The event included 72 runners and Forester senior Emily Stauffer was 25th in 5:16.20.

The meet included runners from 32 different schools, as well as a few running clubs.

The Foresters will be in action against next Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational.
