Senior Jorge Villanueva was one of two Foresters to break a program record Saturday at the UW-Platteville Invitational.

Villanueva finished third in a field of 36 runners in the 5000 meter run and he completed his 25 laps around the track in 15:04.22, more than 16 seconds faster than the program record set exactly a year ago.

Another program record was set in the women's 3000 meter run, where sophomore Yaneli Guajardo placed fifth in 11:01.40 to set the mark by more than seven seconds. Guajardo also finished fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.77.

The Foresters extended their streak of winning at least one of the distance events to four meets when senior Christian Aldana outran 42 other competitors in the mile, finishing in exactly four-and-a-half minutes to edge out the runner-up by just 0.66 seconds.

The Lake Forest women posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the 5000 meter run, where senior Emily Staufer was sixth in 20:16.06 and sophomore Molly Gniady ninth with a time of 20:57.14.

The Foresters will compete at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge next Saturday. Running events will begin at 11:00 a.m.
