Guajardo Leads Foresters at Tadd Metzger Invitational

Sophomore Yaneli Guajardo won the 800m run and finished third in the mile during Friday's Tadd Metzger Invitational at Carthage College.

Guajardo edged out a pair of runners by less than 0.4 seconds with a time of 2:24.46 in the 800, which included 19 competitors. Her 5:21.43 in the mile was less than a second off her school record time of a year ago.

Also earning points for the Forester women was senior Emily Staufer, the runner-up in the 5000m run with a time of 19:55.10.

For the second time in as many meets, the top performance for the Lake Forest men was turned in by senior Christian Aldana, who placed fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:01.95. The team also earned five points in the 600m run, where senior David Carrillo was sixth in 1:33.33 and freshman Mathieu Norcross seventh in 1:33.43.

The next meet on the Foresters' schedule is next Saturday's Ripon College Invitational. Running events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
