Pair of Foresters Score Points on Day One of MWC Championships

Junior Jorge Villanueva finished third in the 10,000 meter run on Friday during day one of the Midwest Conference Championship Meet.

Villanueva completed 25 laps around the Monmouth College track in 33:17.39, finishing 43 seconds behind the winner. His third-place finish earned the Foresters six points in the team standings.

Lake Forest finished the first of two days of competition with two points on the women's side, thanks to freshman Yaneli's seventh-place finish in the 1,500 meter run. She posted a time of 5:00.25, which was within five second of third place. Junior Katherine Nolte was 18th in the same event with a time of 5:33.51. 

Junior Christian Aldana was the top Forester male in the 1,500 with a 10th-place time of 4:14.61. Freshman Nikolas Fantocone was 15th in 4:29.03, junior Sam Barton 17th in 4:31.65, and freshman Nathaniel Bodnar 20th with a time of 4:41.34.

Additional top-20 finishes were registered by Lake Forest sophomore Aiden Pratt and freshman Brandon Johnson in the 400 meter run. Pratt placed 16th in 54.30 seconds and Johnson was 20th in 59.06.

The Foresters' first MWC Outdoor Championships will continue on Saturday. Guajardo and freshman Darrian Lockett enter day two among the top-ranked runners in the 800 meter run and the team will also have several competitors in the 5000 meter run.
