A victory by freshman Darrian Lockett in the 800 meter run highlighted the Lake Forest College track team's performance at Saturday's Benedictine Invitational.

Lockett's time of 1:56.39 was nearly a second-and-a-half ahead of the runner-up in the race and his win accounted for 10 of the Forester men's team's 19 points at the meet. Junior Christian Aldana was fifth in the same event with a time of 2:01.94.

The next-highest finish by a Forester came in the women's 800 meter run, where freshman Yaneli Guajardo placed third in 2:24.12. Sophomore Philip Wilson was fourth in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 9:10.88 and junior Emily Staufer placed sixth in the women's race in 11:21.56.

Despite competing almost exclusively in the distance events, the Forester men were 10th out of 18 schools while the women placed 16th.

Lake Forest will return to compete in the Benedictine Relays next weekend. Friday and Saturday's competition will begin at noon.
