Foresters Run in WashU "Distance Carnival"

Junior Jorge Villanueva was Lake Forest's top finisher in the 10,000 meter run Friday evening at the Washington University Invitational "Distance Carnival."

The event began with two heats of the women's 10,000 and two more for the men. Villanueva was in the second heat and is time of 32:26.15 was good for 35th place out of 70 competitors. Senior Jonathan Stern was in the first heat and completed his 25 laps around the track in 33:14.70.

The Foresters had four men in the 5,000, including two that finished the race in less than 16 minutes. Sophomore Philip Wilson's time of 15:49.72 was good for 90th place out of 198 finishers and junior Christian Aldana was 96th in 15:54.56. Sophomore Dillon Rice finished in 16:49.57 and freshman Darrian Lockett in 16:59.90.

The only two Lake Forest women at the meet were freshman Yaneli Guajardo and junior Emily Staufer. They finished the 5,000 meter run in 20:13.00 and 20:27.79, respectively.

It was the first outdoor meet for the Foresters since the rebirth of the program this year. The team will compete in the Benedictine University Invitational next Saturday.
