Lake Forest Finishes First Indoor Season at Carthage

Freshman Yaneli Guajardo's first 3000m run of the season resulted in a victory at Carthage College's Gill Athletics Final Qualifier on Friday.

Guajardo completed 15 laps around the track in 11:11.71, exactly one second ahead of the runner-up from Carthage. She had competed in the 800m and/or mile run in each of the team's other indoor meets this season.

Freshman Darrian Lockett turned in the next-highest finish by a Forester when he placed fifth in the 800m run. His 2:00.55 was just three-and-a-half seconds out of first place and his fourth time between 2:00.33 and 2:01.22 this season. He was one of eight Lake Forest runners in the event with junior Christian Aldana the next-best in ninth place with a time of 2:03.59.

Sophomore Estafania Ramirez and freshman Audrey Paglia added 10th-place finishes, Ramirez in the women's 800 (2:42.80) and Paglia in the 400 (1:09.19).

It was the final indoor meet for the Foresters, who will being the outdoor season at the Washington University Distance Carnival on March 30.
