Lake Forest Runs at Chicago

Freshman Darrian Lockett's third-place finish in the 800m run highlighted the Forester track team's performance at the University of Chicago's Margaret Bradley Invitational on Saturday.

Lockett completed four laps around in the track in 2:00.33. He now ranks seventh in the Midwest Conference in the event.

Lockett also led off for the Foresters' 4x400 relay team that placed seventh. Junior David Carrillo and freshmen Nikolas Fantocone and Alex Castillo followed him and they completed the race in 3:45.46.

The women's 4x400 relay team, comprised of freshman Yaneli and sophomores Briana Campbell, Shelley Parat, and Lauren Giurini, were second in 4:42.06.

Other runners to earn points on the women's side included Guajardo in the 800m run, where she finished sixth in 2:24.75. Freshman Audrey Paglia and sophomore Estafania Ramirez were seventh and eight, respectively, in the 400m run and sophomore Ariane Balaram, junior Emily Staufer, and freshmen Molly Gniady and Sadaf Naushad were among the top seven in the 3000m run.

Chicago easily won both team competitions with the Concordia University Chicago women and Triton College men placing second. Lake Forest was fifth in the women;s team standings and ninth on the men's side.

The Foresters will compete in their first Midwest Conference Indoor Championship Meet next weekend at Ripon College. Friday's competition will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's at 10:30 a.m.
