Senior Jonathan Stern finished faster than more than 100 runners in his event at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet on Friday.

Stern's time of 15:20.95 in the 5000m run was good for 83rd place out of 186 runners spread over the event's seven heats. It was also 10 seconds faster than he ran on the same track two weeks earlier.

Three Forester juniors joined Stern in the 5000m run. Jorge Villanueva was 123rd in 15:37.85, Christian Aldana 167th in 16:17.34, and Sam Barton 177th with a time of 16:46.76.

The only other member of the Lake Forest men's team at the meet was freshman Darrian Lockett, who placed ninth in the 600m run in 1:23.71.

On the women's side freshman Yaneli Guajardo was 47th in the mile run in 5:20.61 and junior Emily Stauffer placed 110th in the 5000m run with a time of 19:46.55.

Most of the competition at the meet was from NCAA Division I institutions. Eastern Michigan University finished first in the men's and women's team standings.

The Foresters will be back in action next Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Big Dawg Invitational, which will begin at 10:30 a.m.
