Foresters Come Away with Three Victories at the Red Hawk Invitational

Junior Christian Aldana finished first in the men's mile on Saturday at Ripon College's Red Hawk Invitational. The Lake Forest men finished fifth and the women seventh at the meet.

The Foresters' first victory on the day came in the men's 5000m run, where junior Alphonse Wilson circled the track 25 times in 16:09.12, 23 seconds ahead of the runner-up from St. Norbert College.

Lake Forest tallied 10 points in the women's mile, where junior Emily Stauffer finished second in 5:42.12 and sophomore Ariane Balaram seventh with a time of 5:49.08. Aldana took the men's race by more than three seconds in 4:28.12.

A pair of Foresters scored in the 800m run. Freshman Yaneli Guajardo was the runner-up in the women's race with a time of 2:22.36 and, on the men's side, freshman Darrian Lockett placed seventh in 2:03.87.

A week after winning the 5000m run, senior Jonathan Stern turned in a victory in the 3000m run on Saturday, where he and junior Jorge Villanueva made it a one-two finish for the Foresters. Stern completed his 15 laps 9:08.23 and Villanueva in 9:13.80 while Lake Forest sophomore Philip Wilson was eighth in 9:38.42.

Despite competing in relays an individual events of at least 400 meters, the Forester men finished fifth out of 10 teams at the meet while the women were seventh. St. Norbert swept the team standings.

Lake Forest's next competition will be the Grand Valley State University Big Meet on Friday. Events will begin at 10:00 a.m. (ET).
