Foresters Host St. Norbert in Last Meet of the Season

The Lake Forest College swimming and diving team hosted St. Norbert College in a dual meet on Saturday. The women dominated the Green Knights, while the men fell short of winning by only one point.

The women's team swept the competition, winning every single event. Seniors Helena Blumenau and Violet Anderson combined with freshmen Amelie Andres and Megan Dodrill to win the first event of the meet—the 200 Medley Relay. The women set the tone of the meet by out-touching their competition by only .17 seconds.

Blumenau went on to win the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, and Andres also won two individual events: the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Anderson was victorious in the 100 Butterfly, and Dodrill placed first in the 50 Freestyle. Anderson and Dodrill were also on the winning 200 Freestyle Relay along with freshman Valeria Welk and sophomore Capri Kalvelage.

Sophomore Ally McCarthy put up big points for the Foresters by winning the 800 and 400 Freestyles. And junior diver Harriet Townsend was first on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.

Senior Sebastian Wagoner put big points on the board for the men's team with his victory in the 800 Freestyle. Freshman Alexander Wilson followed suit by stopping the clock first in the 50 Free. And sophomore Ben Jacob placed first in the 400 Free.

Wilson led off the men's victorious 200 Freestyle Relay to end the meet. He teamed up with senior Justin Fugiel, sophomore Noah McAdam, and fellow freshman Demetri Zemenides.

The Forester women ran away with the meet, winning 176.5 to 57.5. The men came up one point shy of their competitors, falling 111 to 110 to the Green Knights. With the win, the Lake Forest women's swimming and diving team went undefeated for the first time since the 1998-99 season.

Lake Forest competes again at the Midwest Conference Championship at Grinnell College. The first session of the three-day meet begins at 10:00 a.m. on February 17.
