Foresters Compete in Tri-Meet Against Lawrence and UW-Whitewater

The Lake Forest College swimming and diving team competed in a tri-meet against Lawrence University and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday. The Forester women swept the competition while the men won against Lawrence and fell to Whitewater.

Out of the 16 events swum at the meet, the Lake Forest women won 12. Freshman Amelie Andres swept all four events she was entered in, including both the 200-Freestyle and 200-Medley Relays. She also posted the winning times in the 200-Freestyle (2:00.86) and 200-Breaststroke (2:31.21).

Senior Violet Anderson joined Andres on the 200-Medley Relay and added to the women's win column with victories in the 200-Butterfly (2:15.04) and 200-IM (2:19.39). Her fellow senior Helena Blumenau also won three events; she was on the women's winning 200-Free Relay with Andres and claimed first-place spots in the 1000-Freestyle (10.53.33) and 100-Breaststroke (1:11.85).

Junior Harriet Townsend swept the diving events, scoring the highest totals on both 1- and 3-meter. 

Sophomore Ben Jacob and freshman Andrew Lee led the men's team with two victories apiece. Jacob posted the fastest time in the field in the 500-Freestyle (5:00.00) and 200-Butterfly (2:01.31). Lee was the fastest man in the 200-Breaststroke (2:16.60) and 200-IM (2:02.75); he was also second to Jacob in the 200-Fly by only .06 seconds.

The Forester women won the meet against Lawrence 216-59 and won against UW-Whitewater 189-91. The men won against Lawrence 175-93 and fell to UW-Whitewater 135-119.

Lake Forest competes again on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Illinois Institute of Technology. This will be their final away meet of the season.
