Forester Women Defeat Carthage, Men Fall to Firebirds

Senior Helena Blumenau won three events to help lift the Lake Forest women's swimming and diving team to victory over Carthage College on Saturday. The Forester women won 146 to 72; the men fell to the Firebirds 123-112. Overall, the Foresters won 20 out of the 26 events in the meet.

Blumenau combined with fellow senior Violet Anderson and freshmen Amelie Andres and Megan Dodrill to claim victory in the 200-medley relay to start the meet. She went on to place first in the 200-freestyle and 100-backstroke.

Dodrill also won three events, including the 200-medley; she was part of the winning 200-freestyle relay and placed first in the 50-freestyle. Andres touched the wall first in the 200-individual medley and the 100-breaststroke. Anderson was part of the winning 200-freestyle relay; she also stopped the clock first in the 100-butterfly. Sophomore Ally McCarthy won two individual events—the 800- and 400-freestyle.

Lake Forest freshman Alexander Wilson led the way on the men's team. He combined with sophomores Noah McAdam and Ben Jacob and fellow freshman Andrew Lee to win the 200-medley relay; at the end of the meet Wilson and Jacob were joined by freshman Barrett Coffey and senior Justin Fugiel to place first in the 200-freestyle relay. Wilson also claimed victory in the 50-freestyle.

The Foresters will compete again on Saturday, November 12 at the Gene Davis Invite at 11:00 a.m.
