For her performance at the Carthage Classic Invite over the weekend, Lake Forest swimming and diving sophomore Ally McCarthy was named the women's Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
McCarthy had a pair of winning races. She touched the wall first in the 1650- and 500-freestyle with Midwest Conference-leading times. Her time of 17:44.47 now puts her third in the team's all-time top times; additionally, in the opening 1000 of her mile, she posted a time of 10:45.18, which places her fourth in the team annals.
Additionally, she raced to a runner-up finish in the 100-breaststroke and placed fourth overall in the 200-freestyle.
Her performances helped the women's team finished second in the 11-team meet. They finished behind only Cartage College, the defending CCIW champions.
The Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the athletic department on Tuesdays.
