Forester Men and Women Finish Second at Monmouth Invite

Sophomore Ollie Land got the Foresters' first win of the day as Lake Forest men's and women's swimming and diving competed at the Monmouth College Invite on Saturday. Both teams finished second out of four teams.

Land touched the wall first in the 200-freestyle, winning the event in a time of 1:49.79 and beating out the second place finisher by less than a second. Land went on to finish seventh in the 100-freestyle and the 100-breaststroke with a time of 50.69 and 1:04.71, respectively. 

The only of the Forester men's swimmer to win an event as senior Alec Pittman, who placed first the 500-freestyle in a time of 4:58.26. He beat out his own teammate, fellow senior Max Rowland by only .47 seconds. Pittman placed seventh in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:06.91 and 11th in the 100-butterfly with a time of 57.77.

Junoir Helena Blumenau won the first event on the women's side with her time of 2:16.37 in the 200-individual medley; her teammate sophomore Ally McCarthy finished second in a 2:19.73, making it a one-two finish for Lake Forest. Blumenau also finished second in the 100-backstroke, missing the top spot by .01 seconds.

Senior Kerry Mullen stopped the clock first in the 50-freestyle with a time of 26.10 and in the 100-butterfly, event immediately following, junior Violet Anderson placed first with a time of 1:00.60. Mullen went on to place 11th in the 100-freestyle with a time of 59.61. Anderson was fourth in the 500-freestyle and was part of the second-place 400-freestyle relay. Both women, along with sophomore Sarah McField and junior Jhanati Rajesh, took second in the 200-medley relay in a time of 1:55.44.

The Foresters race again next weekend at the Phoenix Fall Classic at University of Chicago.
