Helena Blumenau Named Women's Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest swimming and diving junior Helena Blumenau was named the women's Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at the team's meet against Monmouth College.

During the meet, Blumeanu won both of her individual events. In the 800m-freestyle, her winning time of 9:52.36 (converts to 11:16.98 for 1000 yards) was more than a minute and a half faster than the runner-up. She prevailed in the 400m-freestyle by more than 30 seconds with a time of 4:49.87 (5:31.28 for 500 yards).

After the completition of the meet, Blumenau raced a solo 200m-backstroke time trial and broke the 25-year-old school record set by Forester Hall of Famer Tobi Limke '97. The old mark was set at 2:27.21, and Blumenau lowered the mark by over three seconds, stopping the clock at 2:23.83 (time converts to 2:09.57 for 200 yards).

The Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the athletic department on Tuesdays.
