Highlights from Home: Men' Swimming & Diving

The student-athlete experience at Lake Forest College is more than just practice and competition, and this year extends across the country and, in some cases, around the world. Forester teams are like families and their members support each other and the community in numerous ways.

This fall, student-athletes at the College are attending classes remotely, finding ways to keep in touch with one another, and continuing to be active and successful Foresters. The "Highlights from Home" series gives them an opportunity to share their experiences.

Senior Stephen Dwyer of the men's swimming and diving team checks in with today's update.

Members of the team were able to stay in shape this summer through various workouts like swimming club, hiking, lifting weights, and body-weight workouts.
Sophomore Jackson Sawyer (pictured on a hike) and I (pictured with family) decided to live in new places to shake things up this semester. Jackson is temporarily in Tennesse and I am in Denver.
Athletes like junior Alec Pittman are staying involved with the sport of swimming and diving by teaching lessons or coaching teams.
Members of the team also focused on some new hobbies, such as senior Thomas Anderson, who worked on his golf game this summer (pictured).
Many of the members of our team started new jobs and internships. Senior Marcus Carter-Buckman (pictured) has been able to intern at an optometrist close to home called Palatine Vision Center. This is another great example of one of our athletes taking steps toward his career goals.
The team has been able to stay connected through the summer and fall by various team zoom calls. We have several calls each month to discuss the team's values, as well as captain-led calls where the team plays games like Pictionary. The team is consistently trying to continue to bond during remote learning.
The men's swimming and diving team is continuing to train with hopes for a chance to compete for a conference title in the spring.
