Violet Anderson Named MWC Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College swimmer Violet Anderson was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday after posting a pair of individual event victories in her collegiate debut on Saturday.

Competing at home against Carthage College, Anderson posted a time of 2:31.84 in the 200m-IM to win the event. The freshman's lead was already nearly three seconds after the butterfly portion of the race and grew to almost four by the time the backstroke and breaststroke had been completed. She closed with a 36.43 over the final 50 meters to finish nearly six seconds ahead of the runner-up.

The second individual event for Anderson on Saturday was the 100m-butterfly, which she also won convincingly. Her time of 1:06.28 was more than five seconds faster than anyone else in the race and, when converted to yards, came within just 0.12 seconds of placing her among the top five in program history in that event.

Despite Anderson's performance, the Foresters were defeated 158-82 by Carthage and will therefore be looking for their first victory of the year at Carroll University this Saturday.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office.
