Freshman Violet Anderson won a pair of events in her collegiate debut but the Lake Forest women were defeated 158-82 and the men 136-93 by visiting Carthage College on Saturday.

Anderson's first individual event was the 200m-IM and her time of 2:31.84 was nearly six seconds faster than the runner-up. A few events later she added another victory in the 100m-butterfly, which she won by more than five seconds in 1:06.28.

The Forester men turned in a trio of wins on Saturday, including a triumph by junior Max Rowland in the 800m-freestyle, the first individual event of the afternoon. His time of 9:03.90 was 1.6 seconds ahead of Lake Forest sophomore Aaron Helms, who placed second. Junior Marcus Carter-Buckman touched the wall first in the 100m-backstroke with a time of 1:01.45 and sophomore Alec Pittman prevailed in the next event, the 400m-freestyle, in 4:19.77.

Helms' placing in the 800m-freestyle was the first of seven runner-up performances by the Forester men and the women also finished second seven times.

It was the first meet of the season for the Foresters and the first dual meet for the Red Men and Lady Reds.

Lake Forest will travel to Carroll University for another dual meet next Saturday. The contest will begin at 1:00 p.m.
