Lake Forest College diver Heath Ogawa was named Forester Athlete of the Week for the ninth time in his career on Thursday.
Ogawa won the 3-meter competition and placed third off the 1-meter board at the NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Meet over the weekend. The meet was hosted by Wabash College. His 536.60 points in Friday's 3-meter event were 32.20 more than the runner-up and assured him a fourth consecutive trip to the national meet. Ogawa finished with 469.15 points off the lower board on Saturday and his third-place finish would have secured his spot at the NCAA Championships even had he not performed so well on Friday.
The four-day NCAA Division III Championship Meet will begin on Wednesday, March 20, and be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. The men's 1-meter diving will take place on Thursday and the 3-meter competition on Saturday. Ogawa was named Division III National Diver of the Year in 2018 after winning the 3-meter event and finishing third off the 3-meter board.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Ogawa has now earned the honor twice this season and nine times in his career.
