Swimmers Post Victories at St. Norbert, Divers Compete at UIC

Freshman Sarah Burchart was one of four Foresters to win three times on the day as the women won 97-81 and the men 98-95 at St. Norbert College on Saturday.

Burchart was joined by sophomore Fallon Longfield, junior Rachel Trevillian, and freshman Kylie Morgan on the victorious 200-medley relay team, which 1:59.94 to take the first race of the day. The men also came out on top in the event with sophomore Evan Weller, freshman Sebastian Wagoner, sophomore Nathan Ulm, and freshman Graeme Witte winning in 1:41.39.

The men's 1000-freestyle was one of two races won by Forester freshman Alec Pittman, who finished in 10:19.67.

The next event was another sweep for Lake Forest with sophomore Susan Guo prevailing in the women's 200-freestyle in 2:03.97 and freshman Aaron Helms winning the men's race in 1:49.84.

Freshman Kerry Mullen extended the team's meet-opening winning streak to six events when she completed the 50-freestyle in 26.13 seconds.

Trevillian earned her second triumph of the day in the 200-IM, finishing in 2:23.85. Sophomore Max Rowland then took the men's race with a time of 2:02.26. The margin of victory in both races was more than 14 seconds.

Morgan's only individual event of the contest was the 100-butterfly, which she won in 1:04.83. Sophomore Thomas Anderson's completed the Forester sweep of the event with a time of 54.84 seconds.

Burchart and Wagoner prevailed in the 100-freestyle, the former in 57.52 seconds and the latter with a time of 50.84.

Trevillian was the first Forester to three victories, taking the 100-backstroke in 1:04.99.

The 500-freestyle races were fairly lopsided with Guo winning by more than a minute with a time of 5:29.92 and Pittman's 4:57.66 nearly 30 seconds faster than the runner-up.

The final individual event of the meet was the 100-breaststroke, where Burchart and Wagoner each won for the third time on the afternoon. Burchart's 1:16.93 and Wagoner's 1:04.35 were both more than three seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.

Mullen, Morgan, and juniors Hannah Stinson and Kelsey Mitchell closed out the women's competition with a victory and time of 3:57.06 in the 400-freestyle relay. Ulm, Rowland, Witte, and senior Blake Rhodes then edged out the Green Knights by .56 seconds with a time of 3:20.70 to close out the meet.

While the Forester swimmers were defeating St. Norbert, the team's divers traveled in the opposite direction on Saturday for the UIC Diving Invitational. Senior Heath Ogawa turned in the team's best performance, finishing second out of 10 divers in the 3-meter competition with 308.85 points and third off the 1-meter board with a 6-dive score of 276.85. On the women's side junior Victoria Miller tied for 13th place out of 19 competitors with 190.20 points in the 3-meter event and classmate Lizzie Johns was 14th in the 1-meter with a score of 200.30.

The Foresters will not compete next weekend ahead of the Midwest Conference Championships at Grinnell College February 15-17.
