Foresters Defeated in Season Opener at Carthage

Junior Rachel Trevillian's victory in the 200-butterfly was the first of the day for the Lake Forest College swimming and diving team, which fell in a dual meet at Carthage on Saturday. The Forester women were outscored 158-81 and the men 169-102.

Trevillian posted a time of 2:14.88 in the race, which she won by six-and-a-half seconds. She was also the runner-up in the 200-IM in 2:21.58 later in the meet.

Lake Forest made it a sweep of the grueling 200-butterfly when freshman Aaron Helms prevailed in the men's race by less than a second in 2:02.47.

The visitors' next triumph came courtesy of Sebastian Wagoner, another freshman, in the 500-freestyle. His time of 4:57.04 was just .04 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Carthage.

The Foresters were also victorious in 1-meter diving, where junior Lizzie Johns led the women with 366.00 points and senior Heath Ogawa paced the men with 494.45.

It was the first meet of the year for Lake Forest, which will compete in its home opener against Carroll University next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
