Lake Forest College diver Heath Ogawa was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at last week's NCAA Division III Championship Meet.

Ogawa, a junior, earned Diver of the Year honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of American after winning last Wednesday's 3-meter competition and placing third off the 1-meter board on Friday. He finished with 573.60 points in the 3-meter event, 20 more than the runner-up, and his score of 515.40 points off the lower board was less than 12 off the lead.

With 37 team points from Ogawa's two events, the Foresters tied for 21st place at the meet, their highest finish since 1994. He joined Daniel Tarkowski, who tied for first in the 100-freestyle in 1994, as the only national champions in the history of the men's program at the College. Ogawa is the school's second CSCAA Division III Diver of the Year, joining Kendall Swett, who earned the honor on the women's side in 2006.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Ogawa has now earned the award twice this season and seven times in his career.
