CollegeSwimming.com released its conference swimmers of the week Tuesday night and Lake Forest College's Lily McCarthy was the winner for the Midwest Conference.
McCarthy, a senior, swept the distance events at the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Hope College on Saturday. She posted a time of 11:10.79 in the 1,000-freestyle to win by nearly 19 seconds and her 5:24.05 in the 500-freestyle was more than five seconds ahead of the runner-up.
It marked the third time this season that McCarthy posted a pair of victories at a meet. She also accomplished the feat in a dual meet with visiting Carroll University on November 4 and at the Monmouth College Invite a week later. She was named MWC Swimmer of the Week by the conference for her performance at Monmouth
CollegeSwimming.com's selections are independent of those made by each conference. Winners are selected from results submitted by Midnight EST each Monday. McCarthy also earned the honor once during the 2016-17 season.
