Lake Forest College swimmer David Bunting was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance in last weekend's A3 Carthage Classic.
Bunting, a senior, posted the fastest times in the Midwest Conference this season in the 200-freestyle (1:46.15) and 200-IM (1:59.14), finishing fifth and 11th, respectively, at the meet in those events. He was also seventh in the 200-backstroke with a time (1:59.48) that ranks third in the league and his 48.68-second leadoff split in the Foresters' sixth-place 400-freestyle relay ranks him second in the conference in the 100-freestyle.
The Foresters finished fourth in the 10-team field with 1,024 points, including 76 from Bunting alone.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
