Lake Forest College swimmer Susan Guo was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' victory at Saturday's four-team Monmouth Invite.

Guo, a freshman, started her day by helping Lake Forest finish first in the 200-medley relay in 1:56.61, the best time in the league this year. The Foresters finished 1.34 seconds ahead of runner-up and defending conference champion Grinnell College and Guo was 1.19 seconds faster than her closest competitor in the butterfly portion of the race.

The Lake Forest women won five of the eight individual events at the meet, including two by Guo. She took the 50-freestyle in just 25.61 seconds and touched the wall first in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:00.52. Both marks were conference-bests this season.

The Foresters closed out the competition with a victory in the 400-freestyle relay, thanks in large part to Guo's anchor leg. She started 1.27 seconds after the fourth swimmer from Grinnell and finished two-tenths of a second before her to secure the win. Lake Forest's time of 3:51.82 in the event is the fastest in the MWC so far in 2017-18.

With 142 points, the Foresters finished 15 ahead of Grinnell with Illinois College and Monmouth College earning 67.5 and 62.5, respectively.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
