Ogawa an Honorable Mention All-American Again in 3M Diving

Lake Forest College sophomore Heath Ogawa placed 14th in 3-meter diving at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet in Shenandoah, Texas, on Saturday. It was his second Honorable Mention All-American performance of the meet.

Ogawa, who was 15th in Thursday's 1-meter competition, was in danger of finishing outside the top 16 late in Saturday's prelims. Sitting in 19th place with just two dives remaining, he climbed three spots with 56.70 points on his 10th attempt and two more with 63.00 on his last. His prelim score of 461.25 and his consolation final mark of 453.10 each ranked 14th in the field of the 24 best divers in the nation.

Ogawa is now a three-time Honorable Mention All-American in addition to earning All-American accolades with his eighth-place finish in last year's 1-meter competition. He earned five team points at the 2017 NCAA Division III Championships, putting the Foresters in a tie for 45th in the team standings. The Lake Forest men have now placed at the national meet three years in a row.
