Forester Divers Take on Division I Competition at UIC

Sophomore Heath Ogawa was the runner-up in the 1-meter competition at the University of Illinois at Chicago Diving Invitational on Saturday.

Ogawa finished with 292.80 points off the 1-meter board, just 3.5 fewer than the individual champion from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Lake Forest junior Matthew Demirs placed 13th out of 18 divers in the event with a score of 191.90. There were 17 competitors in the men's 3-meter competition with Ogawa finishing seven with 249.25 points and Demirs 12th with 206.00.

On the women's side Forester freshmen Lizzie Johns and Victoria Miller finished 14th with 179.90 points and 16th with 157.40, respectively off the 3-meter board. There were 21 divers in the event. Two additional competitors joined in when the 1-meter competition began. Johns placed 10th with 209.25 points and Miller was 19th with another score of 157.40.

Lake Forest will be off next weekend before traveling to Grinnell College for the 2017 Midwest Conference Championships February 17-19.
