Orion Huey Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College swimmer Orion Huey was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at Saturday's Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Wheaton College.

Huey, a senior, was one of two members of the team to win an individual event at the highly-competitive meet. His victorious time of 1:57.85 in the 200-backstroke was more than a second faster than the runner-up from Wheaton. He began the final 50 yards 0.8 seconds out of first place but outswam the leader by nearly two seconds into the finish.

The Foresters also won the 400-freestyle relay, the final event of the meet, and their time of 3:12.95 is the fastest in the Midwest Conference this season. Huey was the fourth and final swimmer and dove in with Lake Forest trailing Hope College by 0.02 seconds. His 100-freestyle split of 47.62 was the Foresters' fastest in the race and 1.9 seconds better than the anchor from Hope.

Huey also swam the butterfly leg of Lake Forest's 400-medley relay, which placed third in the meet with a time of 3:39.15.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Huey, who has now earned the award twice in his career, was also named MWC Performer of the Week on Tuesday.
