Lake Forest College swimmer James Haney was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at the A3 Carthage Classic over the weekend.
Haney, a senior, swam the fastest times in the Midwest Conference this season in both distance events. He was the runner-up in the 1650-freestyle on Friday in 16:53.10, which was more than 30 seconds faster than any other time in the league this year. He also placed third in Saturday's 500-freestyle and his time of 4:50.83 leads the conference by six seconds.
Haney helped lead the Lake Forest men to a third-place finish out of eight teams at the meet.
