CollegeSwimming released its Conference Swimmers of the Week on Tuesday and Lake Forest College's Lily McCarthy was the selection for the Midwest Conference.
McCarthy, a junior, posted a pair of league's best times in the distance events at the A3 Carthage Classic over the weekend. She finished third in Friday's 1650-freestyle with a time of 18:18.83, which is more than 30 seconds faster than performances at any other school in the league this season. She was also the runner-up in Saturday's 500-freestyle in 5:17.55, the best time in the conference by nearly four seconds.
In addition to her success in individual events, McCarthy also helped the Foresters' 400-freestyle (3:47.31) and 400-medley (4:10.30) relays post the second-best times in the MWC this year.
CollegeSwimming Conference and National Swimmers of the Week are selected from results submitted by midnight (EST) each Monday. Selections are based on quality of swims, individual wins, and team score.
